The Mediterranean Way
It was really important for me that my work is a clear extension of my spirit and looks how my soul feels. As a Mediterranean woman, I wanted to honor and keep the spirit of my ancestors alive in my work. I truly believe that we are guided to our joys by our source energy and those in the spirit realm, beaming down inspired action for us to call upon. Sometimes when I’m meticulously painting my vessels on the floor in my bedroom, I think about all of the women in Sicily that sat in a circle and did the same. How they checked the weather outside to gauge the drying time just as I do. How they would make shapes with clay that celebrated the female form and then use them to carry water from the sea. How symbolic is that? Vessels to hold life. Water. Women to hold life. Children.
To be completely transparent, I just started making, shaping and painting intuitively and what happened makes total sense for who I am. I think you can hold one of my vessels and feel the process of a million women before me and that is a beautiful thing.
